The Dickson family christmas tree tradition has ended...

Just to let you all know...

I am officially very allergic to christmas trees or at least something in the one we bought. We got our tree on Sunday, decorated it, and a few hours later my face was burning and broken out in hives. The tree is now gone as of yesterday afternoon and we are airing the house out in this cold weather and after all that, I went downstairs this morning and my face started burning again. Ryan is buying a hepa filter air purifier right now. Thankfully I am not as red, puffy and blotchy as I was, but my poor face is still recovering.

All this to say... I talked with Mom and Dad last night and they have decided for my sake to end the real tree tradition and buy a fake tree. I'm sure it will be the most beautiful tree ever and will remain that way for years to come :) We'll have to buy her some ever green scented candles to stick near it. We'll also have to come up with a new tradition to start. Any ideas?

I am more thankful now than ever to have a second floor :)

It also gave me a severe migraine. So it is the first migraine trigger that I have found. I'm ok and decided to try taking Excedrin (which used to work for me before) and thankfully it has taken the edge off. So that is encouraging.

Love,
missy

The year that my family had to end the real Christmas tree because my dad became allergic to it was hard, but as the years went by I grew to like the benifits that come with a artifical tree. Now I will never go back to a real tree.

Oh no! I haven't done any decorating yet, but was planning to this week. I was thinking about not getting a tree this year, so this kind of decides it. Wouldn't want to carry pine pollen or whatever on my clothes, etc. Last year my tree was pretty, but it didn't smell at all. I don't have all that many ornaments, anyway. Have you seen those potted rosemary bushes that look like a 1-2 foot pine tree? I think I might get one or two of those instead - at least they smell nice.

I have a fake tree up right now. I like having the fake Christmas tree but I always liked going out to Rockford and walking through the other trees. Maybe I'll take the girls out there to get a reef or something, is there anything else we could every year? Like a hay ride or something?
